Ooh its almost Christmas!

And life sure has been busy in my household.
 I can't beleive how time has flown by...
 I have recouperated some... no more treatment for me
I am all finished...
 Its over... HOORAY!..just regular checks.
 I have been busy doing a little sewing for my family.
I made this table mat for my DIL...
 It was part of a challenge...I love the Mary Englebrit fabrics.

  I made these lovely little mittens as an Advent for my girls.
 They happened to just get finished in time for Dec 1st...Phew!
 The pattern is from Amy at Nana Company..Thanks Amy

They looks so good hanging up on the wall and my girls were thrilled.
 They are tiny but little special notes popped into them build excitement...
Where do they look? or what does it say! What will I find?

 and I also have been doing a little bit of this....
 Yes playing with beads...ooh so pretty.

A little stitching..... 2013, 2013, 2013.

BUT that's secret stuff so no completed pictures...

But I can show you the goodies I received from
 the ladies in my sewing group....
 We did a Twelve Days of Christmas Advent...

  I was so blessed... we all had so much fun opening it all...

The flowers were the gift they gave me
along with a Spotty Voucher...for fabric of course.
 Love my Tuesday ladies. They encourage me, give me strength,
 loads of support and just be here.... this girl is blessed!

 Christmas is fast approaching and I have some little visitors
 with me this next 3 weeks. I am so thrilled...
My grandchildren from Perth are with me for Christmas...
 along with their parents of course. My Son and DIL.
 So life will be filled with games, parks and fun...
Not sure how much sewing will happen....
 If I'm quiet you know why...

Finishing Instruction with an apology!

Probably should start with the apology first.
 SORRY SORRY SORRY for the delay.
 I have spent 5 days in hospital again...
 I had been having radiotherapy for the last two weeks
and all is going well with that.
 Prior to having the therapy I needed some physio
on my arm due to the effects of my breast surgery.
My arm wouldn't stretch to well above my head.
 I went to a local physio and she loosened the muscles
under my arm and also my shoulder. Don't you love a good massage?

A few days later, just after radiotherapy started I was experiencing some
 burning sensations along the underneath of both arms and across my shoulders
 It hurt and progressively got really painful...
couldn't concentrate on anything but the pain.
 I though it must be the radiotherapy burning me...
It wasn't and I found out this week the physio had massaged
 too deeply and had aggravated my nerves to my arms..
basically caused them to inflame....OUCH
 It still hurts slightly and will need some time to heal
but I am on nerve pain medication to help it....

 Flirty Square has now come to the last week and I was in hospital,
unable to access my PDf files from my tablet.
 So here is week 8...assembly instructions..HERE
 I hope you have enjoyed making the little stitchery's and are ready to assemble them.

 Marilyn sent me a picture of her stitchery blocks below.

 Thanks Marilyn...they look fabulous.
 Happy finishing!...Don't forget to send in the pictures so I can see yours too.

Almost finished....

Have you been stitching the Flirty Square BOM?
 If so send me the pics so I can share them here on my blog...
 I would love to see what colors you have decided..

 I am still undecided what blue fabrics to use for the next one...
 they will jump when I see them...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Friday's has been coming around so fast especially
 this week too, as its school holidays here in SA.
 We have been playing tea party's,
card and board games as its been cold outside.
 But today the sun is shining and not a cloud in sight.
 My girls are having a ball playing outside...
 I love our local garden centre.
 Me I am sniffing and sneezing as I have the dreaded spring head cold.
But it won't last long I hope...
lots of lemon and honey drinks, some pain relief,
a nice chair to sit in stitching this...
 This weeks stitching blocks for the Flirty BOM are available HERE
 I did say there was 24 designs
but there are now 28 to choose from.
 Next week I will be sharing the assembly instructions...
Quilts and some Flirty BOM week 6!
This last week I have been feeling much better
after finishing Chemo on the 30th August...
 Energy is returning, so into the sewing room I went...
 Had some long awaited quilts that need to be quilted.
So thats what I did...
quilt away and thoroughly enjoyed it.
 Have you been quilting this last week or just plodding along?
 I also got to stitch some hexi's for a quilt I am making..
 will show you some more another day.
 The back of it looks odd but
it is the front I am needing to look good...
Thank you for your wonderful comments
and emails on my Flirty BOM...
 I can't wait to see your quilts completed...
 Especially the different colorways..
 This weeks stitchery blocks are available HERE.
It's Friday...Flirty BOM wk 5!
and I didn't realise it was Friday...
even though my girls
 did their normal Friday night outing to KNO
 (Kids Night Out) at the local church....
 and hubby went to his indoor Archery practice.
 Also I logged on to my Friday night sewing night...
 then it dawned on me that it is Friday...
 arrrgghh when I realised...LOL
 I was watching the footy and hand sewing some hexi's
 Has that happened to you?
 Have you ever wondered where the week went
and what the day is????
 Well Friday's the day I share my next installment of my
Show Week!
Last week here in Adelaide we had the 'Royal Show'.
 As a treat the girls and I went along with a friend and her children.
 It was a miserable day with lots of showers but my girls had lots of fun.
 They had some lovely rides...
 The Ferris Wheel ride even with the wind and rain was great...
 Boy it was going really fast around...
 Did you hear us squealing???...LOL
 Another favorite was the Carousel...
 I remember loving this ride as a kid...
   The colorful dancing horses going up and down, round and round.
 The hot donuts from the Donut Van...yumm yumm
 and yes the girls had been darting here and there
 looking at everything that they were hot...
 Oh I wasn't, to me it was freezing cold...
  We had lunch there among the crowds and also
 the girls bought a show bag or two
 That was a feat in itself searching for the best buy...
 Thankfully it was not busy in show bag hall
and the bag they choose was
 reduced so we grabbed a bargain.
 Then Mummy wanted to see the quilts on show...
 and Miss K wanted to learn how to make lace...
 Then on Saturday it was off to 'Stacks' at our local church
for some more Carnival fun...
 and the girls wanted face painting... I think they look fabulous.
 Show week was super busy for us and mummy needed lots of rest
 So this week is a stay home, rest, recoup, some inside days.
 Hope your week is great whatever you do.
 Sweet Hugs
Flirty Square BOM week 4
I love the Flirt  range of fabrics
by Sandy Gervais for Moda fabrics.
 Fresh looking and crisp too!
 Thankfully I have some more left so will be
 making a few more things with it.
Do you have a favorite range to stitch my Flirty BOM with?
 I am making a blue stitched one...
I am just not sure what fabrics to use yet...
 Do you have any suggestions of fabrics to go with wedgewood blue thread????.
 This week has some of my favorite stitching blocks in it.
 I just love the garden arch and the mushroom...
 Hope to see some stitching popping up soon.
 Let me know if you have done some
 so I can link to your blog and see them.
You can purchase week 4 HERE
Birthday Surprises.....
Last month was my birthday and unfortunately
I had to celebrate it in hospital.
I was still spoilt with wonderful gifts and flowers from
 my family and lovely dear friends.
 The hospital even gave me a cake... a chocolate mouse cake..yummo
sorry no pics of it...but it tasted delish.
The nurses in my ward left me a Happy Birthday
message on my white board on the morning
of my birthday...
So sweet of them to not wake me and write this..
all while I was sleeping.
 Miss Wendy sent me some lovely flowers to cheer me up...
 I enjoyed them for a day and they had to be sent home with hubby
 Flowers are not allowed in the chemo ward... such a shame
 but they were alive when I got home still and smelt just beautiful.
Then my darling friend Fee sent me a gorgeous array of goodies....
 Hubby bought the parcel into hospital for me to open...
 Some just adorable teaspoons...
Just perfect for using when having a girly high tea...
Want to have a cuppa with me..???
 A hoop for my stitching, some writing notes,
A new mouse pad...so sweet and frilly looking...
 a girly one..hubby will have to put up with it being all florally....LOL
 Thanks Miss Fee..Love ya x x x
 Miss Wendy blessed me again with some gorgeous pressie's...
All wrapped up with ribbons and bows... and inside was
 this adorable framed English Garden stitchery...
 Its so gorgeous, my photo's do it no justice...
 Lots of goodies too, heart shaped pins... lavender sachet, phonebook...
 yes I still write down peoples numbers, just in case my phone dies..LOL
 Thanks Miss Wendy x x x
This adorable hexi potholder, but I am using it for my tea tray...
 too nice for hubby to use on greasy oven dishes...
or drippy sauce Lasagna trays..LOL
 And then there's this adorable one... wrapped up all special too...
 Can you see my hospital blanket underneath...
I love the hot blankets in hospital....
 This parcel was from the gorgeous Jenny...
This is such a wonderful promise and definitely true to me...
 I felt so blessed as I had seen in on Jenny's blog...
 and she gifted it to me... I am blessed.
 If you have a friend who wants to make one
 pop past Jen's blog and she has a Craftsy shop
 with this pattern as a free download...
plus some other gorgeous patterns for sale.
 Sorry if this has been a long post, just wanted to share...
 I received some beautiful emails on my birthday
 too and facebook wishes.
 I was truly blessed even though I was in hospital.
A little afternoon tea...
  Its been quite cold and rainy here in Adelaide the last few days
 so a warm oven and some scones baking
makes the house warm and smells yummy too...
 Gives me that happy feeling in the tum.
 This recipe is to easy to make and the scones turn out so fluffy...
Recipe.
 3 cups of Self Raising flour.
80gm of Butter
1 - 1/14cups of Milk.
 Method:
Rub butter into flour, then slowly add milk.
 Place onto a floured board and pat to an inch think.
Cut out with a floured glass or scone ring.
 Place closely together onto baking tray and brush with milk.
 Bake at 220C until lightly browned.
 Serve hot with buter, jam and cream if desired.
 I used a Bonne Maman Jam, imported from france...yummo
 Nice jars for me to use later too.
 Happy afternoon tea wherever you may be.
Flirty Square BOM week 1.
 The first time I saw these 'Flirt' fabrics I was smitten.
 they are so fresh and funky too.
 I started drawing more and more little stitchery designs.
 Then put them into little blocks...
 It's so lovely to look back on photos and see some progress...
From fabrics to a finished quilt.
 Especially as its now almost finished, it's now quilted...just needs some binding.
Finished size is approx 54in square... a great lap size.
As it all came together I had a plan for it...
 I decided it had a new home to go too...
Woo hoo it's looking good, just how I imagined and designed it to be.
I am going to bind it in the next few days, it then can 'Go Home'
 It can be loved and treasured in it's new home.
It's new home is with a friend who is such a treasure to me.
 She has been such a help over the last 6 months,
 I am thrilled I can give her something that's part of me.
And you all for being so patient can now get started
on the first installment of stitchery blocks.
 The requirements list is in the first download
along with the cutting instructions too.
 Don't forget to come back each week for
 another installment... 8 weeks in total...
 August 23rd to October 11th.
 It was going to be 9 weeks but I decided to do 8 weeks instead.
 Week one can be purchased  HERE
